Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince...

So, I just finished the new Harry Potter book last night and it is amazing! Several people have asked if it's my favorite so far, and the answer is...I really don't know! So much happened in the book and soooo much is set up for the next one, that I'm really just still processing it all.

I'm not going to post anything specific here on the front page, but if you want to discuss, please do so in the comments section on this post. I would love to hear from any of you guys that have read it.

This will be your only warning...don't read the comments unless you want to be spoiled!!

I don't mind spoiling when it's labeled as such (as this is), but I guess we should probably just talk in generalities or "code." For example, I completely understood your message above, but someone who hasn't read it yet wouldn't. So, I think we can talk about anything as long as we don't give it all away. Deal?

Okay, so...first, I would love to hear your two theories. The (somewhat hopeful) two I've heard so far are that (1)the killer was "bound" and couldn't NOT do it, but it may not mean what we think it means, and (2)the "death" may have been part of the plan anyway. There may be more to it because of what happened at the funeral.

I'm open to anything at this point. I was literally so stunned when I finished the book that I immediately called Ben and Bird to "decompress!" As Ben kept saying, "this is ridiculous...we're GROWN-UPS!!" :)

Other points...
- Harry's new love interest - I saw that one coming a while back, but it was great to see it played out. I understand where he's coming from at the end of the book, but...I really hope that works out in the end (if Harry doesn't die, of course!)

- Ron and Hermione were SO awesome in this book. I loved the Potions class scenes where Hermione was so frustrated!

- RAB...your thoughts? Bird thinks it's Regulus Black (Sirius' brother), which would make a lot of sense. Also, just type in "Regulus Black" in Google and see how many fans he has!

- The book itself - Rowling referred back to previous books more than she ever has. That's interesting because it sort of rewards the loyal readers, but also lends a sense of finality. It's like, look back on all the fun we've had, because it's all going down the drain! Some have speculated that the setting will be different for the next book, and I have mixed feelings about that. Obviously, Harry will be involved in some very different kinds of things, but I hope we see all the characters in ONE PLACE next book.

- The next book - Rowling set up the final book in such an amazing way. She gave us more insight into its plot than she's ever done at the end of any other book. It's going to be so awesome, and I am really going to hate the wait!

ok here is my take on the book, i think order of the phoenix was better but i loved HBP. i really do hate snape but i still think he is good. dumbledore would never have made such a serious error in judgement when it came to snape. all he ever said was that he trusted him completly and that was all anyone needed to know. cause if you remember dumbledore didnt try to defend himself or anything, almost like he knew this was supposed to happen. and snape had no choice to because of the unbreakable vow. and as far as the horcrux goes, they have already found that locket, its in grimuald place, remember from the order of the phoenix, they found a large locket that they couldnt open, and the initials on that note are from Sirius' brother. but i can talk all day long about Harry Potter.

here is a thought for you to digest, do you think that harry might be a horcrux?? i mean what if voldemort passed on some of his soul to harry when the curse backfired? and what if harry must destroy himself in the process of killing voldemort, kinda like on the last matrix movie? chew on that one.
